The film follows a group of boys from the East Side, led by the streetwise and charismatic leader, Glimpy (played by Huntz Hall). The boys decide to go on a fishing trip to a remote cabin in the countryside for a change of pace from their urban surroundings.
However, their trip takes a dramatic turn when they stumble upon a cabin where a murder has been committed. The boys are mistakenly accused of the crime and become embroiled in a dangerous mystery.
As the plot unfolds, the boys encounter a diverse cast of characters, including suspicious locals, law enforcement officials, and rival gangs. They must use their street smarts and resourcefulness to prove their innocence and uncover the truth behind the murder.
Along the way, the boys face numerous obstacles and challenges, including perilous situations and narrow escapes. Despite their initial misadventures, they remain determined to clear their names and solve the mystery.
As the climax approaches, the boys find themselves in a tense showdown with the real culprits behind the murder. Through teamwork and courage, they manage to outwit the villains and bring them to justice, clearing their names in the process (1940).
