Public Domain Movies | Cyrano DE Bergerac

The play is set in 17th-century France and follows the life of Cyrano de Bergerac, a soldier, poet, and musician. Despite his many talents, Cyrano is self-conscious about his large nose, which he believes makes him unattractive to the woman he loves, Roxane.

Cyrano is also a master of the sword and frequently engages in duels to defend his honor. Despite his prowess with words and the sword, he is unable to express his love for Roxane directly. Roxane, meanwhile, is infatuated with a handsome but less articulate soldier named Christian.

To help Christian woo Roxane, Cyrano agrees to write love letters on Christian's behalf. Roxane is captivated by the eloquence of the letters, unaware that it is Cyrano's words that have won her heart. As the story unfolds, Cyrano grapples with his unspoken love for Roxane, Christian struggles with his inability to express himself, and the characters face the challenges of war and societal expectations (1950).
