Public Domain Movies | Dementia 13

The story begins with the sudden death of Louise Haloran, the youngest daughter of the wealthy and aristocratic Haloran family. In an attempt to secure her inheritance, Louise's scheming husband, John (Peter Read), fakes her death by pushing her into a pond. However, the plan goes awry when John himself dies of a heart attack immediately after the incident.

Terrified of losing the family fortune, John decides to conceal Louise's death and leaves her body in the pond. He travels to Ireland to join the Haloran family at their ancestral castle. Unbeknownst to him, the family is haunted by a tragedy that occurred several years earlier when their young daughter Kathleen drowned in the same pond.

Upon arriving at the castle, John realizes that the Haloran family is still deeply affected by Kathleen's death. Richard (William Campbell), the eldest Haloran son, is particularly obsessed with the tragedy. The family matriarch, Lady Haloran (Eithne Dunne), believes that the spirit of Kathleen is responsible for the mysterious happenings in the castle.

As tension builds, a series of brutal murders occurs, with someone targeting various family members. The mystery surrounding the deaths intensifies as secrets are revealed and the family's dark past comes to light. The film takes on a psychological horror tone as the characters grapple with their own guilt, paranoia, and the supernatural (1963).
