The story begins when Muggs and his friends agree to help out Glimpy's sister, Betty (played by Ava Gardner in one of her early roles), and her new husband, Jack (played by Rick Vallin), by cleaning up their new home. Unbeknownst to the boys, the house happens to be next door to a secret Nazi spy ring led by Emil (played by Bela Lugosi).
As the boys go about their task, they stumble upon a briefcase containing a bomb intended for use by the Nazi spies. Mistaking it for a musical instrument, they accidentally activate the bomb, causing chaos and confusion.
The boys' antics attract the attention of both the police and the Nazi spies, who mistakenly believe the East Side Kids are working against them. Meanwhile, Betty and Jack become unwitting targets of the spy ring's nefarious plans.
As plot unfolds, the East Side Kids find themselves embroiled in a series of comedic confrontations with the spies, leading to a chaotic and humorous showdown. With the help of a friendly ghost who resides in the house, the boys manage to outwit the spies and save the day (1943).
