Mary Hilliard (Ginger Rogers) is an American showgirl performing in London during World War II. While on a train, she encounters the mysterious and charming Paul Rocco (Basil Rathbone), who is involved in a secret political mission. Paul convinces Mary to help him by delivering a message to a contact in France.
As Mary becomes entangled in the dangerous world of espionage, she discovers that Paul is working for the Allied forces to thwart the plans of a group of Nazi sympathizers. The story takes unexpected turns as Mary and Paul navigate the complexities of wartime Europe, facing both perilous situations and moments of intimacy.
