Dr. Kessler's wife, who disappeared many years ago. Unbeknownst to him, she has been kept in captivity in the cellar by their gardener, Evans (played by Clarence Muse). Evans is manipulating Dr. Kessler's mind, using a portrait of his missing wife to trigger a psychological transformation in Dr. Kessler.

Whenever the portrait is revealed, Dr. Kessler falls into a trance, during which he becomes a homicidal maniac. In this state, he unknowingly commits murders, and Evans takes advantage of the situation to further his own sinister agenda.

As bodies start piling up, the local authorities, including Detective Myer (played by John McGuire), become involved in solving the mysterious murders. The film explores themes of psychological manipulation, madness, and the consequences of past actions. The title "The Invisible Ghost" refers to the fact that Dr. Kessler is, in a sense, invisible to himself during his murderous trances (1941).
