Public Domain Movies | The Little Princess

The plot of "The Little Princess" follows the young and imaginative Sara Crewe (played by Shirley Temple), the beloved daughter of a wealthy British officer. Sara is sent to Miss Minchin's Select Seminary for Young Ladies, an exclusive boarding school for girls. Her life is filled with luxury and privilege, and she is treated like a little princess by her doting father, Captain Crewe (played by Ian Hunter).

However, her world is turned upside down when her father is called away on military duty, and she is left in the care of the strict and unkind headmistress, Miss Minchin (played by Mary Nash). As Sara's circumstances change, she is forced to become a servant in the school and is subjected to harsh treatment.

Despite the adversity she faces, Sara remains kind-hearted and imaginative. She befriends a scullery maid, Becky (played by Sybil Jason), and the two girls support each other in their difficult circumstances.

The film revolves around Sara's resilience and her ability to maintain her positive outlook, believing that she is still a princess deep inside. She also becomes known for her storytelling abilities and the way she captivates the other girls at the school with her imaginative tales (1939).
