The film opens with the characters George Cochran (played by Bing Crosby) and Harold Gridley (played by Bob Hope) narrowly escaping a marriage proposal from a wealthy and demanding woman. In their haste to flee, they sign up as deep-sea divers on a ship heading to Bali.
Once in Bali, George and Harold discover that they are expected to marry Princess Lala (played by Dorothy Lamour), who is the daughter of a local tribal chief. However, George falls for the princess, and this complicates their plans.
The film features a blend of slapstick humor, wordplay, and musical performances, including Bing Crosby singing several songs. George and Harold find themselves in a series of comedic situations, including a volcanic eruption and encounters with dangerous wildlife. Throughout their adventures, they must navigate the challenges of wooing the princess while avoiding various threats to their lives (1952).
