Matthew, a young man who is deeply troubled from a young age. The film begins with a traumatic childhood incident in which Matthew loses his hand in a farming accident. After this incident, his life takes a dark turn as he struggles to cope with the loss of his hand and the psychological trauma it causes.

As Matthew grows older, his mental instability intensifies. He becomes increasingly delusional and unhinged. He develops a disturbing obsession with his mother, which leads to a series of gruesome and violent acts. He eventually escapes from a mental institution and embarks on a killing spree, targeting anyone who crosses his path.

Throughout the film, Matthew's violent acts become more brutal and disturbing, and his descent into madness becomes more pronounced. The film's narrative explores the psychological deterioration of its protagonist and the horrors he inflicts on those unfortunate enough to encounter him (1973).
