The film follows the story of John Craig (Warner Baxter), a successful and charismatic businessman who is known for his charm and confidence. Craig's life takes a dramatic turn when he is wrongly accused of embezzlement and is sentenced to prison.
In prison, Craig becomes determined to clear his name and seek justice. He escapes from prison and adopts a new identity, taking on the name of Jim Conway. As Conway, he sets out on a quest to uncover the real criminals behind the embezzlement scheme.
Along the way, Conway encounters a woman named Mary Nolan (Catherine Dale Owen). She becomes enamored with him, unaware of his true identity and past. As Craig continues his pursuit of the truth, he faces various challenges, including the law enforcement officers trying to apprehend him (1930).
