The film is set in New Mexico, where a mineralogist named Paul Carlson (played by Chase Cordell) is working with a team to study meteorite fragments. During an expedition, a meteorite strikes Paul, embedding a fragment in his skin. Unbeknownst to him, this event triggers a bizarre and dangerous transformation in his body.
As the days pass, Paul's physical and mental condition deteriorates. He begins to undergo a mysterious mutation that is linked to the phases of the moon. During each full moon, he transforms into a monstrous, lizard-like creature and embarks on a murderous rampage.
Paul's girlfriend, Kathy Nolan (played by Donna Leigh Drake), becomes increasingly concerned about his condition and begins investigating the strange occurrences. She seeks the help of a local archaeologist, Professor Johnny Longbow (played by Gregorio Sala), who suggests that the transformation may be connected to a Native American legend.
As the full moon approaches, the local community becomes fearful, and Kathy and Professor Longbow work to find a way to stop Paul's deadly transformations. The film builds to a climactic showdown as they try to find a solution to the moon beast curse (1976).
